In 1988, Australia's Bicentennial Year, after ten years of planning, Elayne's family and friends achieved a dream. They drove a restored, original Cobb & Co coach from Melbourne to Cairns - a distance of over 4000 kilometres - and on the way raised money for cancer research. The journey took six months and at least 1200 horseshoes and 7200 horseshoe nails.
